The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Mr. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of China, Mr. Xiao Juncheng, in his office today.
The meeting focused on the prospects of COSCO's investment and how it can have a positive effect on the general operation of the port of Piraeus. It is noted that Mr. Varvitsiotis had contributed to the presence of COSCO during his previous term at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
At the meeting, which took place in a very good atmosphere, possibilities for deepening the maritime cooperation between Greece and China were also examined, with Mr. Varvitsiotis proposing the participation of Greek companies, active in the field of marine equipment, in Chinese shipyards.
