The Samos Coast Guard Authority was visited by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Mr. Giannis Plakiotakis, accompanied by the Member of Greek Parliament Mr. Christodoulos Stefanadis, the General Secretary of the Aegean and Insular Policy, Mr. Manolis Koutoulakis and the Commander Vice Admiral H.C.G Theodoros Kliaris.

"From here, the Samos Coast Guard Authority, a key point in the Aegean," said Mr. Plakiotakis, "I want to praise the women and men of the Hellenic Coast Guard for the hard work that they overcome, day and night, to protect the sea borders of our homeland ".

"Their own effort," he added, "takes advantage of the increased operational capabilities that we have managed to have the Hellenic Coast Guard, through a large armaments program that is underway, resulting in a dramatic reduction in migration flows in the last 2 years. The Officers of Hellenic Coast Guard not only with their courage and determination, but also with respect for international law and also prioritize the protection of human life. When traffickers circuits are left or even supported, to endanger thousands of human beings in the Aegean, Greece rescues human lives. That is why we continue to strengthen the Hellenic Coast Guard.’’
